Longbarn & string– Discover provincial, industrial, garden and larger architectural antiques, together with the ‘string’ collection of textiles, natural fibres and hand made sourced in France, Australia and anywhere we can acquire practical, interesting and quirky pieces. Gary is on hand to discuss the array of zinc tubs, baths, iron panels, stone and marble pieces in the garden as well as the vast collection of furniture overflowing through the great barn doors. Enjoy chatting about the range of French linen and other haberdashery finds with Jane. The Longbarn sits along side Tidmarsh, built in 1856 which is quite an historic land mark in Braidwood. This lovely stone building with shingle roof adds to the sense of history and ambiance.
Shopping in France– Stories of our market finds in France add to the history and provenance of many pieces.
string- pays homage to traditional, hand made textiles, lace and ‘women’s work’. With a unique collection of natural fibres and inspiring repurposed items many made ‘in house’ there are many one- off pieces to be found. Also French lace and vintage homespun hemp and linen as well as kitchen and household items that carry with them the souvenir of their discovery in small villages in France.
